The Old Inn is a very nice gastro-pub (that is, a pub that is also a restaurant) in the small village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. It is in the midst of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, Southern England. It dates back to the 14th century and has preserved a large part of its original charm. Recently, an extension made of a lot of bright wood and glass has been added, which provides enough space for a number of guests (mainly tourists) during peak times.
On calm foggy, rainy, windy, actually very many days, you can retreat to the old part of the pub and happily engage with stories about the dark side of picturesque Dartmoor. A true classic is Sherlock Holmes’ “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” which is based on a local legend.
