Chippin Campden – High Street
Chipping Campden is a very nice market town in the Cotswolds in the county of Gloucestershire. By the way, the word chipping comes from the Old English “cēping”, which means market or marketplace. Chipping Campden High Street is flanked on either side by an almost unbroken single terrace and this is quite unusual.
In the middle of the village stands the ancient market hall from 1627, now redesigned and owned by the National Trust. It has a special significance for this area which was extremely prosperous at the time of the wool trade. This is also shown by the many magnificent houses in the village, which are still exuberantly decorated with flowers.

In addition to a visit to the town with its almost 6,000 inhabitants, it’s a good idea to take a fairly short walk up Dovers Hill (owned by the National Trust, but free of charge). In addition to a beautiful view of the town, you have a very wide view of the plain and the valley of Evesham from above. In the midst of sheep, you can have a great hike and enjoy a magnificent view.
The path starts at the church, turn right into the road and then straight ahead and uphill.
