Abbotsbury in Dorset
Abbotsbury is a small village in Dorset with about 500 inhabitants, and it is very distinguished by its beautiful old stone houses. It is located directly on the Jurassic Coast on the English Channel. This area is a World Heritage Site!
The village is at the end of the “Fleet”, which is a lagoon bordered by “Chesil Bank”. This is exactly where countless swans have been breeding every spring for centuries. You will also find the Abbotsbury Swannery here. This is a highlight for visitors as you can hardly get any closer to breeding swans and in particular to cygnets in May!
Another highlight are the Subtropical Gardens, one of the rather unknown, but really particularly beautiful gardens in Southern England.
The area itself is also worth more than one visit and if you need a little exercise after visiting the local tea room, you should climb the small hill with the 14th century St. Catherine’s Chapel on the top. The views of the Jurassic Coast are breathtaking!
The Abbotsbury Homepage, which is extensive in content, is highly recommended for further ideas of where to visit!

This is also Abbotsbury- romantically situated

As small as Abbotsbury is – there is still a tea room to be found!
