The world-famous red telephone booth is a typically British institution. They can still be seen everywhere, even though there are now more modern versions. They are quite often in a lonely position at a road junction where there is no sign of human settlement.
In recent years, they are increasingly being equipped with a life-saving defibrillator instead of a barely used telephone! This is seen as a way to allow these typical English telephone booths to survive.
