Abbey House Gardens – the private residence
Just behind the Abbey in Malmesbury (Wiltshire) are the Abbey House Gardens. They are somewhat hidden and are private gardens, but they are a real gem. In a confined space on two levels a formal garden (above) and a landscaped garden (down by the River Avon) have been created here – and how! Due to the lack of space, the “areas” in the formal garden are very small and incredibly filled, which means an almost unbelievable splendour, especially during the flowering season in spring. The almost psychedelic covering of wisteria is also a must see.
