Blenheim Palace from the Garden
Blenheim Palace has gained its greatest fame due to the fact that it was the residence of Winston Churchill. It is without question, a very magnificent property (and by the way a UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Oxfordshire near the lovely little town of Woodstock. However, compared to other mansions, it seems rather defiant and forbidding.
We would like to recommend a visit to Blenheim Palace only to a very limited extent, as many areas are only accessible with guided tours and, for example, “The Untold Story” turned out to be a third-rate multi-room media show that can only be described as a total waste of time.
The entrance fees are relatively high, but are put into perspective when the day ticket is converted into an annual ticket free of charge!
Note: The large landscaped garden in front of the house is officially accessible free of charge. You just need to walk from the town of Woodstock through the gate and past the gatekeeper..
