Salibsury is a very nice town in Wiltshire and has a population of just over 40,000. It is traversed by the rivers Avon and Wylyle, on whose banks there are beautiful paths. The Salisbury Cathedral is very well known and worth seeing.
Just outside the city lies “Old Sarum,” the ruins of an Iron Age hillfort (now owned by English Heritage). Salisbury was therefore once known as “New Sarum.” However, the historic old town—well worth a visit—belies the “New” in its name.
